Winter Celebrations/ Celebraciones de Invierno
This week we learned about winter celebrations. We learned about that the Christmas tree tradition came from Germany. We discussed about their Christmas decoration and the children help to decorate our classroom Christmas tree. At art table the children used construction paper and cotton to make a Santa hat, used geometric shapes to decorate a Christmas tree and use tissue paper to make an ornament. At house keeping the children pretended to bake cookies for Santa. At sensory table, they played with measuring cups, oatmeal and bottle. The children counted the number of cups to fill the bottle. At science table, the children used magnets to build and used gum drops and toothpicks to build structures. It was challenging but a fun activity! Also, we made predictions and observed what happens when you put a candy cane in hot and cold water. We found the candy cane dissolve faster in hot water.
