Winter!

Image
This week we started our study on winter. We learned how snowflakes are form in the clouds and how the seed crystal bound around clouds and water get attach to it and form a hexagon. A hexagon is the base of a snowflake, but not two snowflakes are identical. The children created amazing art. The children use paint to create their representation of snowflakes and a winter tree. The children use pattern blocks to make different snowflakes. We transform our dramatic area into an ice-skating rink. The children pretended to shovel snow, pretended to bake cookies and pretended to ice skate. We added white blocks to our blocks area and the children sorted them and created amazing structures.

Building Celebration!

Our first week back after our holiday break. Just a few tears and the children jump back to our daily routine. We spent this week reviewing what we learned about buildings. The children used the boxes we collected and the parents donate. The children worked in small groups and use the boxes to create amazing buildings. The children work as a team to create a building with different features such as doors made out of the wood sticks, elevator and helipad.. It was amazing to see the children engage in conversations and work cooperatively to reach a final goal. Also, the children drew sketches of their amazing buildings. The children voted and our next topic will be about winter.
