Smart Apples

I can't believe this year is over! The children have grown so much, and they are ready for kindergarten. We want to thank the parents for their support and for allowing us to be part of their families. We will treasure the memories we created, and we hope you and your child come back to visit and let us know about all the wonderful things they accomplish. #ForeverAnApple  🍎 ¡No puedo creer que este año haya terminado!  Los niños han crecido muchísimo y están listos para el kindergarten.  This week, we finalized our study on exercise by learning how to keep our bodies safe during exercise and how important it is to follow the rules. At the art table, the children made collages with pieces of paper, painted with watercolors, and used sticker eyes to create a person or animal. At the sensory table, the children used a garlic press to squeeze water out of a sponge. At science, the children learned about symmetrical shapes and created symmetrical shapes with wooden sticks. At literacy, the children continued practicing letter recognition and letter sounds. At the blocks center, the children continued building with blocks and adding props. At table games, the children used small colored blocks to build. We celebrated our learning about exercise by preparing delicious smoothies. All the children tried them and loved them! This week we discussed jobs related to exercise. We talked about coaches, P.E. teachers, and trainers; these jobs help people stay healthy and safe during physical activities.  At the art table, the children made soccer balls, painted with Q-tips, used markers to create symmetrical pictures of their faces, and played with Play-Doh. In science, the children created a maze with Play-Doh, used straws to move a ball, and explored magnets. At the sensory table, the children used scoops and scissors to move balls from one container to another and used pompoms to make patterns. At the blocks area, the children used a variety of blocks to build structures. In dramatic play, the children pretended to make smoothies and exercise. At the table games area, the children learned about symmetry and patterns. We finished our week with a visit from Bogie. The children had the opportunity to pet him and spend time with him.
