This week we are learning about the human body. We continued learning about the importance of taking care our body. This week the children learned about body parts and how to identify them. We transformed our dramatic play into a doctor office. The children pretended to be a doctor. The children pretended to give shots, bandages and take the temperature of their patients. The children label body parts on baby dolls and their peer’s body. The children drew a picture of a person and used lines and curves to create a mat man. We added a child size skeleton to our science table and blocks center. The children learned about different important bones in our body and they used blocks to create skeleton. This week we continued learning about dental health. The children learned the importance of flossing and brushing our teeth twice a day. The children learned that food could affect your teeth. The children learned that food high in sugar con produce cavities. The children sorted food by healthy and non- healthy foods. The children continued to pretend to be a dentist. The children check the patient’s teeth and counted the teeth. The children practice to floss the teeth by using egg cartons, yarn and play dough. We learned that our teeth are attached to our gums and we need to take care our teeth and our gums. We learned that food can stick between our teeth and that can cause cavities, plaque or bad breathe. The children practice writing words related to dental health. This week we start our study on dental health. We transformed our dramatic area into a dentist office. We learned that a dentist is a doctor who specializes in teeth, gums, and the mouth. The children took turns pretending to be a dentist and patient. The children painted with toothbrushes, made a mouth with construction paper and marshmallows. At the sensory table, we pretended to brush teeth and played with rice and plastic teeth.  We learned that different liquids such as soda and juices could change the color of our teeth. We learned the importance of brushing our teeth and how toothpaste helps our teeth to keep them clean. We learned that we should brush our teeth twice a day. It was a fun week full of new learning! This week was everything about water transportation. The children pretended to row a boat and go fishing. The children experimented with different materials. We learned some objects float and other sink. Objects will float if it less dense than the liquid it places in and an object will sink if it is denser than the liquid it is placed in. The children drew pictures of submarines and made a boat with construction paper. The children played with plastic boats at the sensory table. They experimented with different weighs. Also, this week we celebrated Dr. Seuss birthday. We read several books and we decided to make green eggs and ham. The children love it! We learned about air transportation. We transformed our dramatic area into an airport. The children learned that airplanes could travel long distances. We learned about a passport and ticket. The children pretended to be a pilot and the passenger went through the security. At the science table, the children learned about parachutes and airplanes. We experimented with a parachute and different weighs. We learned that with weighs the parachute land faster. The children used their shoes to measure the distance that their airplane flew. At the sensory table, the children played with water beads and different airplanes. The children used stickers to create ABC patterns. It was a busy week!
