Winter/Invierno
This week we continue our study on winter. At art center, the children created the representation of winter trees and made snowmen by the number of letters in their name and they added amazing details. Also, they painted with white paint, we pretended to paint with snow. At the sensory table, we added instant snow, it was a simple experiment. We added water to the instant snow. We learned that instant snow is actually derived from the super absorbent polymer found in baby diapers. When water comes in contact with the polymer, it moves from outside the polymer to the inside and causes it to swell. The children played with our magic snow and measuring cups. At science table, the children used marshmallows and toothpicks to make a tower and they learned that snowflakes are different shapes, but the initial shape of the snowflake is a hexagon and crystal attached to this shape to create amazing beautiful snowflakes.
