Pumpkins/ Las calabazas
This week was all about pumpkins. Thanks to the parents that donated pumpkins to our classroom. We learned that pumpkins grow on a vine. We learned that pumpkins can be different sizes and some pumpkins can be green or white. We learned that gourds can be smooth or bumpy. At sensory table, we practiced our eye hand coordination by hammering golf tees to our pumpkins. At block center the children added small pumpkins to their structures and made awesome pumpkin paths. At dramatic play, the children pretended to bake pumpkin pies and rake leaves. At math, we used pattern blocks to make different faces to our jack-o- lanterns and we measured with snap cubes the width of their pumpkin. At art table the children painted a representation of a pumpkin, used scissors to cut a pumpkin and cut out and painted with watercolors.
