Smart Apples

This week was short but full of fun! The children continued learning about trains and cars. They continued working together and learning how to share materials and taking turns. They created amazing structures and cities at blocks. At art center, the children painted with Q-tips and played with playdough. At dramatic center, the children continued to pretend to be a mechanic and used tools to fix our taxi. At sensory, the children played with sand, trucks and rock letters. The children recognized sound, letters and recognized some alliteration. At literacy, they wrote the letters H and drew firefighter ladders. We celebrated our annual thanksgiving activity. Mrs. Betsy read a book to our class and the class decorated cookies with their families. It was a sweet way to end a week. This week was a busy week! We learned why we need roads and why they have lines. Also, we learned that wheels have patterns and lines that help them to get a grip on the road, just like a tennis shoe. At art center, the children painted with cars, used shapes to make cars and trains, painted with watercolors and played with playdough. At math, the children used snap cubes to measure pictures of cars and make patterns with counters. At science, the children experimented with power magnet cars and a small ramp and cars and they measured the distance with blocks. At blocks, the children used blocks to build amazing roads and structures. At literacy, the children practiced writing circles. At dramatic play, the children continued to pretend to be a mechanic and fix our taxi. Our class went outside and explored Ms. Li’s car tires, the inside of the car and drew pictures of observation.
