Transportation/ El transporte

This week was short but full of fun! The children continued learning about trains and cars. They continued working together and learning how to share materials and taking turns. They created amazing structures and cities at blocks. At art center, the children painted with Q-tips and played with playdough. At dramatic center, the children continued to pretend to be a mechanic and used tools to fix our taxi. At sensory, the children played with sand, trucks and rock letters. The children recognized sound, letters and recognized some alliteration. At literacy, they wrote the letters H and drew firefighter ladders. We celebrated our annual thanksgiving activity. Mrs. Betsy read a book to our class and the class decorated cookies with their families. It was a sweet way to end a week. We are grateful for each child and their families and the opportunity to work as a team to provide the best learning environment for each child. 

 

¡Esta semana fue corta pero llena de diversión! Los niños continuaron aprendiendo sobre trenes y coches. Continuaron trabajando juntos y aprendiendo a compartir materiales y turnarse. Crearon estructuras y ciudades asombrosas en bloques. En el centro de arte, los niños pintaron con hisopos y jugaron con plastilina. En el centro dramático, los niños continuaron haciéndose pasar por mecánicos y usaron herramientas para arreglar nuestro taxi. En el sensorial, los niños jugaron con arena, camiones y letras de piedra. Los niños reconocieron sonidos, letras y reconocieron algunas aliteraciones. Durante la alfabetización, escribieron las letras H y dibujaron escaleras de bomberos. Celebramos nuestra actividad anual de acción de gracias. La Sra. Betsy leyó un libro en nuestra clase y la clase decoró galletas con sus familias. Fue una dulce manera de terminar una semana. Estamos agradecidos por cada niño y sus familias y la oportunidad de trabajar en equipo para brindar el mejor ambiente de aprendizaje para cada niño.

Our first week of school! For some children they are transitioning from another class, some of the children are adapting to new peers and new schedules and some children are new to our school family. As you know sometimes new things can be scary, and transitioning can be hard. We see a few tears, but the children enjoyed the first week of school.    Our first week together was spent learning about the learning centers, names of new friends, and how to make friends. Our rules/Nuestra reglas

This week, we created the rules of the classroom. We talked about the importance of rules. Rules will help keep us safe. We talked about big and little rules. The rules will help create a supportive and organized school family.  In science, the children learned about primary colors and created new colors by mixing paint and colored water. It was really fun. At the sensory table, we introduced scissors. The children practiced cutting straight lines.  At the art table, the children painted with watercolor, used Q-tips to paint, paint sticks, markers and water to mix colors, and played with playdough. At the dramatic center, the children practiced playing together, sharing materials, and taking turns.  At the table game, the children practiced counting 1:1 correspondence, played with puzzles, and sorted shapes. What to do when we feel sad or scared at school? ¿Qué hacer cuando nos sentimos tristes o asustados en el colegio?

This week we learned about how to recognize what makes us sad or scared at school and what we can do to regulate our emotions. We introduce a safe place. It is a place that the children can use to calm their body and regulate their emotions. The children came up with clever ways to regulate their emotions such as to count to 10 or ask a friend/teacher to read with them or request a hug. We introduced some materials at art center such as playdough, rollers and glue. The children learned they need just a dot of glue. Also, the children drew beautiful self-portraits (take a look at our board). The children continued making new friends and exploring the learning centers.     They are learning their friend’s new names and how to play together. Also, this week we introduced the Question of the Day. It is an opportunity to count and talk about more or less and discuss the answer.
