Flowers/ Las flores
We start our study on flowers. We created a KWL chart. This week, we research about different seeds. We learned that beans can be a seed. At sensory, we used a variety of flowers and a drainer to practice fine motor skills. The children found different ways to use it and sort flowers. At dramatic play, the children pretended to make arrangements, sort flowers and use some gardening tools. At art table, the children observe flowers and created their representation and used their geometric shapes to make flowers. At science table, we learned that beans have a belly button just like us. The belly button is called hilum. The rest of the bean is made up of this solid white stuff, and it has a funny name: it’s called the cotyledon. The cotyledon is basically stored-up plant food. It’s what the embryo will use for energy when it first starts to grow. When you eat a bean, your body also uses the cotyledon to give you energy!
