Smart Apples

This week was short, but we had so much fun! We read the book “The Thankful Book” and the children discuss what they are thankful for. Also, we read the book “Not a Book” and we created a classroom version. The children drew amazing pictures of not a box! At science, we compare objects and use non-standard measure. At writing table, we practice writing letters and drawing in the journal. At sensory table, the children played with wet sand and building mold. At math table, they built with small blocks, played with puzzles, created patterns and played with geoboards. At literacy, the children recognized letters and matched letters. Also, we grabbed our jackets and enjoyed the cold weather! We are thankful for each student and their family. We are thankful that we can come to school and learn together! This week, we discussed what buildings are made of? What makes them strong? At science, we explored materials as brick and stones. We try to blow the bricks and stones, but it was really hard. We discussed the importance of strong materials to build buildings and houses. At housekeeping, the children continued experimenting with different materials. The children created tall buildings and bridges. At sensory table, the children built a tower with blocks. It was really challenging, but they did it! We talked about the importance of a strong foundation and how this foundation keeps the building safe. At art table, the children made their house by using markers and watercolors and they use geometric shapes to make skyscrapers and use model playdough and wood sticks to create buildings.
