Smart Apples

This week was really short. The children created beautiful placemat for our annual thanksgiving lunch and we discuss what they are thankful for. We are thankful for each child and their family. We appreciate the support and partnership through these few months. It was great to share a special lunch with the families! Happy Thanksgiving!  Esta semana fue corta. Los niños crearon hermosos manteles para nuestra almuerzo de acción de gracias y discutimos porque ellos tan agradecidos. Nosotros estamos agradecidos por cada niño y su familia. This week we keep learning about the bakery. The children used different shapes to design their own cake.  The children sorted cookies by size and colors. The children counted one to one correspondence at the sensory table. The children are practicing to draw a person and body parts. The children love to build mat man. Also, we learn a new poem 10 little donuts and decorated a donut at the art table. The children continue learning to build friendships with peers. This week we learned about the different tools that a baker used to create delicious bread and desserts. The children used rolling pings and cups of different sizes to paint and create different patterns. The children worked in their visual discrimination by matching cookies.  We read the book “The Gingerbread Baby” and the children decorated their own gingerbread cut out. The children continued to pretend to bake delicious donuts and cookies. We are learning to share materials and play with friends.  The children continue learning about patterns, playing with letters and sorting materials. We finished this week by baking delicious chocolate cupcakes. The children decorated them with their favorite topics. It was delicious! This week we start our study about bakery. We transformed our dramatic play into a bakery. The children pretended to bake cookies, donuts, pretzels and their favorite bread. We learn that the bakery needs to know about math and chemistry. The bakers found the right combination of ingredients to create delicious bread, pastries and many other desserts. The children use toothpicks and jellybeans to build different structures. The children practice their fine motor skills by using an eggbeater and whisk at the sensory table and using scissors to cut a cupcake. The children painted with condensed colored milk. It was sweet!
