Smart Apples

This week continue learning about ice cream. We experimented with ice; we added water, salt and sugar to a cup with ice. We discovered that the ice cube in water and the ice cube covered in salt were melting the fastest. Also, we experimented with light. The children drew pictures in the light table. They observed how the different colors mixed and created different lines and drawing. At the sensory table, we experimented with frozen water beads and water. We observe that water help ice to melt. It took one whole day to melt a bag of frozen beads. At art table we use Q-tips and paint sticks to paint. The children painted beautiful pictures. We finished our week with a fun field trip to Marbles museum. This week we learn about ice cream. This week it was filled with some fun and delicious treats.  We transformed our dramatic play into an Ice cream shop. The children pretended to serve their favorite ice cream. We learn about their three favorite toppings: M &M, gummy bears and chocolate syrup. We made some delicious vanilla ice cream. It was delicious! Also, this week we celebrated the week of the young child. On Monday, Coco’s mother- Ms. Amy taught us how to move our body with an excellent dance class. On Tuesday, we planted beautiful flowers, and Mrs. Mark read us a book about colors and numbers. On Wednesday, we made delicious fruit pizza! Yummy! On Thursday Dolly Parton’s imagination library visited our school and we encourage parents to sign for free books and on Friday we made a beautiful FLS Flower with the hand cut out that the family decorated! We continue our study on Bakery. We began the week by painting with chocolate paint and we made butter at the science table. We added play dough and different scents and the children used cookie cutters and rolling pins. They pretended to bake delicious cookies. We experimented with milk, food coloring and dish detergent. We learned that the fat and the proteins are super sensitive to change in milk and so when the dishwashing liquid is added a chemical reaction occurs. The soap and fat work hard to join together, which causes the movement. It was fun! Also, the children experimented with jellybeans and different objects. They used the balance scale to learn about weight.  At the sensory table, we played with flour, chocolate and marshmallows. We painted with kitchen utensils. It was fun to see the different patterns.
