Bakery! Panadería!

We continue our study on Bakery. We began the week by painting with chocolate paint and we made butter at the science table. We added play dough and different scents and the children used cookie cutters and rolling pins. They pretended to bake delicious cookies. We experimented with milk, food coloring and dish detergent. We learned that the fat and the proteins are super sensitive to change in milk and so when the dishwashing liquid is added a chemical reaction occurs. The soap and fat work hard to join together, which causes the movement. It was fun! Also, the children experimented with jellybeans and different objects. They used the balance scale to learn about weight.  At the sensory table, we played with flour, chocolate and marshmallows. We painted with kitchen utensils. It was fun to see the different patterns. We tasted croissants. It was a delicious snack.  We would like to thank Brice’s parents for this delicious treat!. We finished our week by baking our own loaf of bread. It was fun to mixed the ingredients and eat our delicious bread with butter! Next week we will celebrate the Week of the young Child and we will learn about ice cream! 

Continuamos nuestro estudio en panadería. Comenzamos nuestra semana pintando con pintura de chocolate y hacienda mantequilla en la mesa de ciencia. Añadimos plastilina de diferentes aromas y los niños usaron moldes de galletas y rodillo. Pretendieron hornear deliciosa galletas. Experimentamos con leche, colorante de  comida y detergente de platos. Aprendimos que la grasa y las proteína son súper sensitivas a los cambios de la leche y cuando añadimos el detergente de platos ocurre una reacción química. El jabón y la grasas trabajan para juntarse, y causa el movimiento. Fue muy divertido! También, los niños experimentaron con jellybean and diferentes objetos. Usaron una balance para aprender acerca del peso. En la mesa sensorial, los niños jugaron con harina, chocolate y malvavisco. Pintamos con utensilios de cocinas. Fue divertido ver los diferentes patrones. Probamos unos deliciosos croissants. Fue un delicioso merienda. Queremos agradecerle a Brice padres por este deliciosa merienda! Terminamos nuestra semana horneando nuestra propio pan. Fue diversitos mezclar los ingredientes y comer nuestro delicioso pan con mantequilla! La próxima semana celebraremos la semana de niño y aprenderemos acerca de los helados!

Our first week of school! For some children they are transitioning from another class, some of the children are adapting to new peers and new schedules and some children are new to our school family. As you know sometimes new things can be scary, and transitioning can be hard. Our rules/Nuestra reglas

This week, we created the rules of the classroom. We talked about the importance of rules. Rules will help keep us safe. We talked about big and little rules. The rules will help create a supportive and organized school family.  In science, the children learned about primary colors and created new colors by mixing paint and colored water. It was really fun. At the sensory table, we introduced scissors. The children practiced cutting straight lines.  At the art table, the children painted with watercolor, used Q-tips to paint, paint sticks, markers and water to mix colors, and played with playdough. At the dramatic center, the children practiced playing together, sharing materials, and taking turns.  At the table game, the children practiced counting 1:1 correspondence, played with puzzles, and sorted shapes. What to do when we feel sad or scared at school? ¿Qué hacer cuando nos sentimos tristes o asustados en el colegio?

This week we learned about how to recognize what makes us sad or scared at school and what we can do to regulate our emotions. We introduce a safe place. It is a place that the children can use to calm their body and regulate their emotions. The children came up with clever ways to regulate their emotions such as to count to 10 or ask a friend/teacher to read with them or request a hug. We introduced some materials at art center such as playdough, rollers and glue. The children learned they need just a dot of glue. Also, the children drew beautiful self-portraits (take a look at our board). The children continued making new friends and exploring the learning centers.     They are learning their friend’s new names and how to play together. Also, this week we introduced the Question of the Day. It is an opportunity to count and talk about more or less and discuss the answer.
