Leaves & Pumpkins/ Hojas & Calabazas (Remote learning)

Image
The past week we learned about leaves and pumpkins through remote learning. We learned about leaves changing colors and we can sort them by color and shapes. The children collected leaves and created beautiful collages or leaves museums. Also, we learned that pumpkins can be different sizes and some colors are yellow, green and white. The children use words to describe a pumpkin. The children used seesaw to practice some skills such as: sorting letters, answering WH questions, comparing sizes and listening to stories.   Friday was an exciting day! Finally, we are together again! The children were excited to see their friends and get back to our routines.  We want to thank the parents who donated pumpkins to our classroom. Next week, we will continue learning about pumpkins.   La semana pasada aprendimos sobre hojas y calabazas a través del aprendizaje remoto. Aprendimos sobre las hojas que cambian de color y podemos clasificarlas por colores y formas. Los niños recol...

This week was full of fun! The children learned about predictions and experimented with some materials that float and sink. In science, the children use the balance to find things that have the weight as an apple or heavier than an apple. Also, the children copy and extended AB patterns. At the literacy table, we practice recognizing letters by matching letters and the children are spelling their friends name and used curve and straight lines to create uppercase letters. At art table, we used scissors. The children cut out apples and practice recognizing the letters in their name. Also, the children used scissors to cut tape. It was a great exercise for their little hands. At dramatic play, the children continue to bake delicious pies and selling apples (very pricey apples $100 for 5 apples lol). At the sensory center, they practice sorting pom-poms by using thongs. At the manipulative table, the children created new structures with connect blox, copy patterns and made an apple tree wi...

This week was all about apples. The children explored the inside and the outside of an apple. We use words such as bumpy and smooth. At science center, we learned about why apples turn brown, due to the process of Oxidizing happens when the apples come in contact with the oxygen in the air and begin to react, turning brown. Also, we taste delicious apples. Our class prefers eating yellow apples and they measure their height with apples. At dramatic play, the children pretended to pick apples and bake delicious pies. At sensory table, we played with apples, tongs and baking trays. We encourage the children to sort apples and use tongs. At table games, we sorted pom-poms by colors. At the writing table, we practice drawing and writing words related to apples. At art table, we practice ripping and gluing paper and we played with apple playdough and small tins pies. We finalize our week by eating delicious apple pie in a cup for snack!   Esta semana fue todo sobre manzanas. Los niños e...
