Holidays! Celebraciones!

This week we discuss winter celebrations. We pretended to wrap presents and decorate a snowman, Christmas tree and gingerbread man. We had a wonderful pajama party. We had delicious snacks and we watched The Polar Express. Thanks to the family for decorating a beautiful Christmas tree. We had a special visit from Santa Claus. Thanks to the parents for sharing cookies with us. It was a sweet morning! Ms. Krista and I want to wish each of our families a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Thanks for letting us be a part of your family! Esta semana discutimos acerca la celebraciones en el invierno. Pretendimos envolver regalos y decoramos muñecos de nieves, árbol de navidad y muñecos de jengibre. Tuvimos una fiesta de pijamas maravillosa. Tuvimos una merienda muy deliciosa y vimos la película El expreso Polar. Gracias alas familias por decorar unos bellos arboles de navidad. Hibernation! Hibernación

We continue learning about winter. This week we learned about hibernation. We learned that some animals hibernate or sleep through the winter. We learned that some animals eat a lot during the fall and that fat help them to stay warm during the winter. Some of the animals that hibernate are snakes, bears, chipmunks, and groundhogs. The children used paper plates and watercolors to create a snake and used paper plates to make their favorite bear. Also, the children used blocks to build a cave for our teddy bears. The children played with snow at the sensory table.  Also, we added scarves and gloves to our dramatic center; we encourage the children to practice their self-help skills.   Continuamos aprendiendo acerca del invierno. Winter! El Invierno!

Winter is coming and we began our study on winter. This week, we learned about signs of winter and snowflakes. We know that the snowflake is a type of precipitation and that snowflakes basic shape is a hexagon, but temperature and wind can change their basic shape and that is why there are no two snowflakes the same. There are 33 types of snowflakes!  The children created a representation of a winter tree and practice their fine motor by cutting snowflakes and writing their name. The children practiced their visual discrimination by exploring snowflakes and find their match.   Friday was a special day for our class; we had our gingerbread house day. It was fun to see the parents and children working together. It was a delicious activity and together they built wonderful gingerbread houses. Transportation! Transportación!

This week, we learn about water transportation.   The children had the opportunity to pretend to row a boat and fishing. The children had the opportunity to count 1:1 and sort fishes. At the sensory table, the children explored different objects that float and sink. Also, they practice their eye- hand coordination by using a spoon and floating tops. The children played with dominos and they counted 1:1 and simple adding. We found out the water is able to travel through paper. The water moves against gravity along the tiny gaps within the fibers of the paper towel. We finished our week with a sweet treat. We sorted, counted and graphed M&M’s.   The class voted and our next topic will be winter. Esta semana, aprendimos acera la transportación en el agua.
