Smart Apples

This week, we begin our study on transportation. We transformed our dramatic center to an auto shop. The children pretended to be mechanics and found different ways to fix our cars.  It was excited to see the children sharing materials and talking about how they can fix the car such as put gas, paint it or changed the oil. At block center, we added road tape to our blocks and the children will build roads and add cars and traffic signs. At science, we used snap cubes to measure trains and cars and create patterns with small transportation objects. At art, the children used markers to draw pictures of their family cars and trains. Also, they used cars to paint. Also, we went outside and explored tires. The children notice that the tires have numbers and letters and are different sizes. It was a great exploration activity. This is the last week of rotation. Next week our class we will together, we can’t wait to learn and play together. Also, this week was our last week for our study on apples. This week, we learned about tally, so we created a tally to decide our next topic. The children voted and our class decided to learn about transportation. This week the children learned about the cycle of an apple tree and we learned about sequence. We used pictures to put them in the right order. Also, we learned about world map. We learned that studies show that China was the first to grow apple trees and now our country is one of the biggest producers of apples. We learned that apples have a little sticker that show where they come from. We learned that 3 of our apples come from Chile, New Zealand and our country.  Also, we are working on social skills such as asking for turns and sharing materials. This week we continue learning about apples. At science table the children taste yellow, green and red apples. The class favorite is red apples. Also, the children explored the inside of an apple, estimated how many seeds an apple has, and we guess how much an apple weigh. The children are learning about patterns. The children created patterns with different materials. At blocks the children are building different structures and drawing their buildings. The children pretended to bake apples pies. This week we learned about sequences and following instructions. We begin working on our fine motor journal. We are working on strengthening our hand eye coordination and pencil grasp. This week was our first together in the classroom. It was great to see children recognizing faces and making new friendship. We start our investigation into Apples. The children sorted apples by colors and size. The children painted their representation of apples, stamp with apples and drew pictures of their favorite apples. The children pretended to pick apples and bake delicious apples pies. The children explored the variety of blocks and created structures. Playing outside is one of our favorite activities. The children are taking turns on the swing and played with plastic balls. We had some fun  this week!  Esta semana fue la primera vez que estuvimos juntos en el salón de clases.
