Apples/Manzanas

This is the last week of rotation. Next week our class we will together, we can’t wait to learn and play together. Also, this week was our last week for our study on apples. This week, we learned about tally, so we created a tally to decide our next topic. The children voted and our class decided to learn about transportation. This week the children learned about the cycle of an apple tree and we learned about sequence. We used pictures to put them in the right order. Also, we learned about world map. We learned that studies show that China was the first to grow apple trees and now our country is one of the biggest producers of apples. We learned that apples have a little sticker that show where they come from. We learned that 3 of our apples come from Chile, New Zealand and our country.  Also, we are working on social skills such as asking for turns and sharing materials. It great to see the children playing together and welcoming new friends.  Please make sure that you mark your calendar Wednesday, 18 is a remote learning (Asynchronous) will post some easy activities on seesaw. 

Esta es la última semana de rotación. La semana que viene nuestra clase estaremos juntos, estamos ansiosos por aprender y jugar juntos. Además, esta semana fue la última semana para nuestro estudio sobre las manzanas. Esta semana, aprendimos sobre el recuento, por lo que creamos un recuento para decidir nuestro próximo tema. Los niños votaron y nuestra clase decidió aprender sobre transporte. Esta semana los niños aprendieron sobre el ciclo de un manzano y nosotros aprendimos sobre la secuencia. Usamos imágenes para ponerlas en el orden correcto. Además, aprendimos sobre el mapa del mundo. Aprendimos que los estudios muestran que China fue el primero en cultivar manzanas y ahora nuestro país es uno de los mayores productores de manzanas. Aprendimos que las manzanas tienen una pequeña pegatina que muestra de dónde vienen. Descubrimos que 3 de nuestras manzanas provienen de Chile, Nueva Zelanda y nuestro país. Además, estamos trabajando en habilidades sociales como pedir turnos y compartir materiales. Es genial ver a los niños jugar juntos y dar la bienvenida a nuevos amigos. Asegúrese de marcar en su calendario el miércoles 18 es un aprendizaje remoto (asincrónico) que publicaremos algunas actividades fáciles en seesaw.

Our first week of school! For some children they are transitioning from another class, some of the children are adapting to new peers and new schedules and some children are new to our school family. As you know sometimes new things can be scary, and transitioning can be hard. Our rules/Nuestra reglas

This week, we created the rules of the classroom. We talked about the importance of rules. Rules will help keep us safe. We talked about big and little rules. The rules will help create a supportive and organized school family.  In science, the children learned about primary colors and created new colors by mixing paint and colored water. It was really fun. At the sensory table, we introduced scissors. The children practiced cutting straight lines.  At the art table, the children painted with watercolor, used Q-tips to paint, paint sticks, markers and water to mix colors, and played with playdough. At the dramatic center, the children practiced playing together, sharing materials, and taking turns.  At the table game, the children practiced counting 1:1 correspondence, played with puzzles, and sorted shapes. What to do when we feel sad or scared at school? ¿Qué hacer cuando nos sentimos tristes o asustados en el colegio?

This week we learned about how to recognize what makes us sad or scared at school and what we can do to regulate our emotions. We introduce a safe place. It is a place that the children can use to calm their body and regulate their emotions. The children came up with clever ways to regulate their emotions such as to count to 10 or ask a friend/teacher to read with them or request a hug. We introduced some materials at art center such as playdough, rollers and glue. The children learned they need just a dot of glue. Also, the children drew beautiful self-portraits (take a look at our board). The children continued making new friends and exploring the learning centers.     They are learning their friend’s new names and how to play together. Also, this week we introduced the Question of the Day. It is an opportunity to count and talk about more or less and discuss the answer.
