This week, we begin our study on transportation. We transformed our dramatic center to an auto shop. The children pretended to be mechanics and found different ways to fix our cars.  It was excited to see the children sharing materials and talking about how they can fix the car such as put gas, paint it or changed the oil. At block center, we added road tape to our blocks and the children will build roads and add cars and traffic signs. At science, we used snap cubes to measure trains and cars and create patterns with small transportation objects. At art, the children used markers to draw pictures of their family cars and trains. Also, they used cars to paint. Also, we went outside and explored tires. The children notice that the tires have numbers and letters and are different sizes. It was a great exploration activity. Please mark your calendar, Monday 11/23 and Tuesday 11/24 are remote learning (Asynchronous) we will post some easy activities on seesaw. 

Esta semana comenzamos nuestro estudio sobre transporte. Transformamos nuestro centro dramático en un taller de automóviles. Los niños pretendieron ser mecánicos y encontraron diferentes formas de arreglar nuestros autos. Estaba emocionado de ver a los niños compartir materiales y hablar sobre cómo pueden arreglar el auto, como poner gasolina, pintarlo o cambiar el aceite. En el centro de bloques, agregamos cinta adhesiva a nuestros bloques y los niños construirán caminos y agregaron automóviles y señales de tráfico. En ciencia, usamos cubos de presión para medir trenes y automóviles y crear patrones con pequeños objetos de transporte. En el arte, los niños usaron marcadores para hacer dibujos de los autos y trenes de su familia. Además, usaban autos para pintar. Además, salimos y exploramos neumáticos. Los niños notan que los neumáticos tienen números y letras y son de diferentes tamaños. Fue una gran actividad de exploración. Marque su calendario, el lunes 23 de noviembre y el martes 24 de noviembre son de aprendizaje remoto (asincrónico) y publicaremos algunas actividades fáciles en seesaw.

Our first week of school! For some children they are transitioning from another class, some of the children are adapting to new peers and new schedules and some children are new to our school family. As you know sometimes new things can be scary, and transitioning can be hard. We see a few tears, but the children enjoyed the first week of school.    Our first week together was spent learning about the learning centers, names of new friends, and how to make friends. At the art table, the children drew pictures and played with playdough. At the sensory table, the children played with funnels and measuring cups. Our rules/Nuestra reglas

This week, we created the rules of the classroom. We talked about the importance of rules. Rules will help keep us safe. We talked about big and little rules. The rules will help create a supportive and organized school family.  In science, the children learned about primary colors and created new colors by mixing paint and colored water. It was really fun. At the sensory table, we introduced scissors. The children practiced cutting straight lines.  At the art table, the children painted with watercolor, used Q-tips to paint, paint sticks, markers and water to mix colors, and played with playdough. At the dramatic center, the children practiced playing together, sharing materials, and taking turns.  At the table game, the children practiced counting 1:1 correspondence, played with puzzles, and sorted shapes. What to do when we feel sad or scared at school? ¿Qué hacer cuando nos sentimos tristes o asustados en el colegio?

This week we learned about how to recognize what makes us sad or scared at school and what we can do to regulate our emotions. We introduce a safe place. It is a place that the children can use to calm their body and regulate their emotions. The children came up with clever ways to regulate their emotions such as to count to 10 or ask a friend/teacher to read with them or request a hug. We introduced some materials at art center such as playdough, rollers and glue. The children learned they need just a dot of glue. Also, the children drew beautiful self-portraits (take a look at our board). The children continued making new friends and exploring the learning centers.     They are learning their friend’s new names and how to play together. Also, this week we introduced the Question of the Day. It is an opportunity to count and talk about more or less and discuss the answer.
