Pumpkins/Las calabazas

This week was about pumpkins. We learned that pumpkins are a fruit, have a lot of seeds and they can float. At art center, the children painted their representation of a pumpkin, they painted with watercolors, used scissors to cut a pumpkin cut out and they decorated a pumpkin cut out. At sensory table, the children hammered golf tees into pumpkins. They worked on their eye-hand coordination. At manipulative table, the children used unifix cubes to measure the width of their pumpkin, continued working on patterns and recognizing and matching shapes. At literacy, the children are working on recognizing letters and sounds and spelling their names. At dramatic play, we added pumpkins, the children pretended to bake pumpkin pie and sort pumpkins. At blocks center, the children added pumpkins to their structures. At science, the children measured the height of the pumpkin with unifix cubes and explored the inside of a pumpkin.
