Winter/El invierno
This week, our preschoolers learned all about hibernation ! We discovered that bears hibernate in the winter because food like berries, nuts, and fish becomes hard to find. When bears hibernate, their bodies slow down — their heartbeats get slower, and they sleep for a long time to save energy. They live off the fat they stored up during the summertime! At the art table , the children decorated warm winter hats with colorful markers, drew and painted symmetrical mittens, and followed directions to draw a sleeping bear. At the writing table , they practiced writing winter words and had fun using letter stamps to create words and names. At the sensory table , the children explored mixing colored water and salt, watching how they changed and blended together — such fun experimenting!
