Remote Learning/ Aprendizaje remoto

During our first week of remote learning. We close our study on Bakery. We talked about our favorite bread and our favorite spread. The children engaged and practice basic skills by counting, writing their name and sorting words by initial sounds.
 During our second week of remote learning. We explored what we know about winter and identify some signs of winter around of us. The children continue engaging in seesaw to practice continue patterns and measuring object. We will continue exploring this topic the following week. We will learn about hibernation and how some animals adapt to the cold weather.                                                                                                                                                                        
Durante nuestra primera semana de aprendizaje remoto. Cerramos nuestro estudio sobre Panadería. Hablamos sobre nuestro pan favorito y que usamos para untar. Los niños practicaron habilidades básicas contando, escribiendo su nombre y clasificando palabras por los sonidos iniciales.

Durante nuestra segunda semana de aprendizaje remoto. Exploramos lo que sabemos sobre el invierno e identificamos algunos signos del invierno a nuestro alrededor. Los niños continúan participando en el Seesaw para practicar patrones y medir objetos. Continuaremos explorando este tema las próximas semanas. Aprenderemos sobre la hibernación y cómo algunos animales se adaptan al clima frío.

Our first week of school! For some children they are transitioning from another class, some of the children are adapting to new peers and new schedules and some children are new to our school family. As you know sometimes new things can be scary, and transitioning can be hard. We see a few tears, but the children enjoyed the first week of school.    Our first week together was spent learning about the learning centers, names of new friends, and how to make friends. At the art table, the children drew pictures and played with playdough. At the sensory table, the children played with funnels and measuring cups. Our rules/Nuestra reglas

This week, we created the rules of the classroom. We talked about the importance of rules. Rules will help keep us safe. We talked about big and little rules. The rules will help create a supportive and organized school family.  In science, the children learned about primary colors and created new colors by mixing paint and colored water. It was really fun. At the sensory table, we introduced scissors. The children practiced cutting straight lines.  At the art table, the children painted with watercolor, used Q-tips to paint, paint sticks, markers and water to mix colors, and played with playdough. At the dramatic center, the children practiced playing together, sharing materials, and taking turns.  At the table game, the children practiced counting 1:1 correspondence, played with puzzles, and sorted shapes. What to do when we feel sad or scared at school? ¿Qué hacer cuando nos sentimos tristes o asustados en el colegio?

This week we learned about how to recognize what makes us sad or scared at school and what we can do to regulate our emotions. We introduce a safe place. It is a place that the children can use to calm their body and regulate their emotions. The children came up with clever ways to regulate their emotions such as to count to 10 or ask a friend/teacher to read with them or request a hug. We introduced some materials at art center such as playdough, rollers and glue. The children learned they need just a dot of glue. Also, the children drew beautiful self-portraits (take a look at our board). The children continued making new friends and exploring the learning centers.     They are learning their friend’s new names and how to play together. Also, this week we introduced the Question of the Day. It is an opportunity to count and talk about more or less and discuss the answer.
