Buildings/Los Edificios

This week, we read “The Three Little Pigs”. We read several versions and it became one of our favorite stories. We compared the books by finding similar and different events in each one. We discussed how buildings are made of different materials. At the art table, the children painted with colored blocks and Legos, using rectangles and squares to represent buildings. At the sensory table, we used shaving cream and blocks to pretend to lay bricks after reading the book “Brick by Brick”. The children created amazing towers. In the manipulative area, the children used colored blocks to build towers, drew pictures of their towers, measured them with rulers, created patterns with unifix cubes, and used pattern blocks as tools. In the dramatic play area, the children continued to use different materials to build various structures.
