Apples!

Fall is here! We learned about apples. At the art center, we explored apples and they painted their representation. The children use apples to stamp and explore different print and use construction paper to create an apple tree. Also, the children use different materials to create 3D art. They created amazing structures. At the dramatic center, the children pretended to pick apples, sorting them and bake an apple pie. At science, we use apples to measure our height and we made our first classroom book. Also, we sorted by color and created AB patterns. We learned that different liquids can affect the apples. We learned that apples turn brown when the apples come in contact with oxygen in the air and begin to react, this process is called oxidization. Also, we learned lemon juice and tonic water slow down the process of oxidation because both contains citric acid. At the sensory table, we experimented with a ball and spoon and we learned that apples can float because 25% of their volume is air. We celebrated our learning by preparing a delicious apple pie in a cup. It was a week full of learning and delicious treats!
