First Week! Nuestra primera semana!

The children are adjusting to our routine and making new friends! The children are spending time exploring the different learning centers. Ms. Krista and I, are getting to know each child likes and dislikes. We are working in establishing a school family. We want each child to feel safe and secure. I will like to thank the parents for their patience. Remember we are TEAM!

Los niños se están adaptando a nuestra rutina y están haciendo nuevos amigo! Los niños están ocupando su tiempo en explorando los diferente centro de aprendizaje. Srta. Krista y yo estamos aprendiendo lo que le gusta y molesta a cada niño. Estamos trabajando en establecer una familia en la escuela. Queremos que cada niño se sienta seguro y confiado. Quiero agradecer a los padres por su paciencia. Recuerde somos un EQUIPO!

This week we began our study of winter. The children created a KWL chart, and we generated questions that we will research during the next week. We transformed our dramatic play into an ice-skating rink. The children dress in warm clothes, pretend to serve cookies, popcorn, and drinks, and use pretend skates. At literacy centers, the children spell winter words. At the science center, the children learn about snow and use magnifying glasses to find matches in a snow-matching game. At the manipulative table, the children create winter patterns, use title magnets numbers to count 1:1 correspondence, use snap patterns, and pattern blocks to make snow patterns. Human body/ El cuerpo humano

 This week, our class wrapped up an exciting study on the human body! The children were fascinated to discover how our spine helps us move and that it’s made up of 33 bones. We explored how our pulse works, how the heart pumps blood, and how our ears process sound—turning science into hands-on fun. At the science table, the children created a model spine using gummies and pasta, then used toothpicks and playdough to explore their own pulse points. They also built models of the heart and ear, carefully matching each organ to pictures and learning about their different functions in the body. At the art table, creativity was flowing as the children painted with straws and Q-tips, experimenting with colors and textures. In the manipulative center, they built patterns using colored blocks, played with owl manipulatives, and solved puzzles—all great exercises for developing fine motor skills and problem-solving. The gingerbread man/El hombre de jengibre

This week we continued our study on “The gingerbread man”. During circle time, the children put in order pictures to retell the story. Also, we talked about different ending for the story. At blocks, the children built a bridge to help the gingerbread man to cross the river and drew pictures of their bridges. At dramatic play, the children continued baking cookies, served hot cocoa and pretended to be a baker. At art table, the children used scissors to cut a gingerbread man out and decorated it, painted with mixes of ginger and brown paint and ripped paper to decorate a gingerbread man. At science, the children taste gingerbread man cookies, and we found out why cookies and water don’t mix. We found out that cookies can dissolve in water or milk.  Also, the children used gingerbread cut outs to measure their height and drew pictures to represent their findings.
