Friendship/ Amistad

This week we discuss the importance of friendship and how to use helpful words with friends. We practice using words to enter into a group and requesting a turn or sharing toys. The past 4 weeks, we have laid the foundation of a community classroom. The children learned some strategies to manage feelings and use our safe place to regulate their emotions. We learned about routines and our schedule to help children to transition during activities and track their day. We created classroom jobs and commitment to help children to connect with friends and peers. 

 

This week we begin our fine motor journal and handwriting without tears. These activities will help the children to strengthen their fine motor skills and pre-writing skills. On Wednesday, it was our first language group. The children learned about who, the situation or problem, feelings and a solution. 

On Thursday was our first music class. The children played instruments and sang songs. We closed our week with our annual “Cookie and Milk”. It was so much fun to having the parents in the classroom and showing them a little bit our routines and daily rituals. The children played with their parents in their favorite center. It was so much fun! 

 

Next week we will start our first learning study. We will learn about apples, fall and pumpkins!

 

Esta semana hablamos de la importancia de la amistad y cómo usar palabras amigables con los amigos. Practicamos el uso de palabras para entrar en un grupo y pedir un turno o compartir juguetes. Las últimas 4 semanas, hemos sentado las bases de un salón de clases comunitario. Los niños aprendieron algunas estrategias para manejar los sentimientos y utilizar nuestro lugar seguro para regular sus emociones. Aprendimos sobre las rutinas y nuestro horario para ayudar a los niños a hacer la transición durante las actividades y hacer un seguimiento de su día. Creamos trabajos en el aula y el compromiso de ayudar a los niños a conectarse con amigos y compañeros.

 

Esta semana comenzamos nuestro diario de motricidad fina y la escritura a mano sin lágrimas. Estas actividades ayudarán a los niños a fortalecer sus habilidades motoras finas y sus habilidades previas a la escritura. El miércoles fue nuestro primer grupo de idiomas. Los niños aprendieron sobre quién, la situación o problema, los sentimientos y una solución.

El jueves fue nuestra primera clase de música. Los niños tocaron instrumentos y cantaron canciones. Cerramos nuestra semana con nuestro anual evento “Galletas y leche”. Fue muy divertido tener a los padres en el aula y mostrarles un poco nuestras rutinas y rituales diarios. Los niños jugaron con sus padres en su centro favorito. ¡Fue muy divertido!

 

La semana que viene comenzaremos nuestro primer estudio de aprendizaje. ¡Aprenderemos sobre manzanas, otoño y calabazas!

Our first week of school! For some children they are transitioning from another class, some of the children are adapting to new peers and new schedules and some children are new to our school family. As you know sometimes new things can be scary, and transitioning can be hard. We see a few tears, but the children enjoyed the first week of school.    Our first week together was spent learning about the learning centers, names of new friends, and how to make friends. Our rules/Nuestra reglas

This week, we created the rules of the classroom. We talked about the importance of rules. Rules will help keep us safe. We talked about big and little rules. The rules will help create a supportive and organized school family.  In science, the children learned about primary colors and created new colors by mixing paint and colored water. It was really fun. At the sensory table, we introduced scissors. The children practiced cutting straight lines.  At the art table, the children painted with watercolor, used Q-tips to paint, paint sticks, markers and water to mix colors, and played with playdough. At the dramatic center, the children practiced playing together, sharing materials, and taking turns.  At the table game, the children practiced counting 1:1 correspondence, played with puzzles, and sorted shapes. What to do when we feel sad or scared at school? ¿Qué hacer cuando nos sentimos tristes o asustados en el colegio?

This week we learned about how to recognize what makes us sad or scared at school and what we can do to regulate our emotions. We introduce a safe place. It is a place that the children can use to calm their body and regulate their emotions. The children came up with clever ways to regulate their emotions such as to count to 10 or ask a friend/teacher to read with them or request a hug. We introduced some materials at art center such as playdough, rollers and glue. The children learned they need just a dot of glue. Also, the children drew beautiful self-portraits (take a look at our board). The children continued making new friends and exploring the learning centers.     They are learning their friend’s new names and how to play together. Also, this week we introduced the Question of the Day. It is an opportunity to count and talk about more or less and discuss the answer.
