The gingerbread man/El hombre de jengibre

This week we continued our study on “The gingerbread man”. During circle time, the children put in order pictures to retell the story. Also, we talked about different ending for the story. At blocks, the children built a bridge to help the gingerbread man to cross the river and drew pictures of their bridges. At dramatic play, the children continued baking cookies, served hot cocoa and pretended to be a baker. At art table, the children used scissors to cut a gingerbread man out and decorated it, painted with mixes of ginger and brown paint and ripped paper to decorate a gingerbread man. At science, the children taste gingerbread man cookies, and we found out why cookies and water don’t mix. We found out that cookies can dissolve in water or milk.  Also, the children used gingerbread cut outs to measure their height and drew pictures to represent their findings. At manipulatives, we added the boardgame candy land. The children loved it! They are learning to take turns and wait for their turns. Also they used Candyland blocks to build structures. We finally had our holiday celebration with our annual pajama day and movie. It was so much fun this week! We want to thank all the parents for their kindness and amazing gifts. Esta semana continuamos nuestro estudio sobre “El hombre de jengibre”. Durante la hora del círculo, los niños ordenaron dibujos para volver a contar la historia. Además, hablamos sobre diferentes finales para la historia. En los bloques, los niños construyeron un puente para ayudar al hombre de jengibre a cruzar el río y dibujaron sus puentes. En el juego dramático, los niños continuaron horneando galletas, sirviendo chocolate caliente y fingiendo ser panaderos. En la mesa de arte, los niños usaron tijeras para cortar un hombre de jengibre y lo decoraron, pintaron con mezclas de pintura de jengibre y marrón y papel rasgado para decorar un hombre de jengibre. En ciencias, los niños probaron galletas de jengibre y descubrimos por qué las galletas y el agua no se mezclan. Descubrimos que las galletas se pueden disolver en agua o leche.  Además, los niños utilizaron recortes de pan de jengibre para medir su altura y dibujaron dibujos para representar sus hallazgos. En los manipulativos, agregamos la tierra de dulces del juego de mesa. ¡A los niños les encantó! Están aprendiendo a turnarse y esperar su turno. También utilizaron bloques de Candyland para construir estructuras. Finalmente tuvimos nuestra celebración navideña con nuestro día anual de pijamas y película. ¡Fue muy divertida esta semana!
