This week we celebrated what we learned about buildings! The children worked in small groups to make buildings. They work so hard on their amazing buildings and their building drawings. It was amazing seeing them working together, sharing materials and ideas. In art table, the children made their favorite house from the book “The Three Little Pigs”. In manipulative the children created patterns. At science the children built a tower with different materials and use materials to make shapes. At dramatic place, the children continue building and experimenting with different materials. At blocks, the children work together and built great structures. It was a busy week! We finished the week, with our annual gingerbread house! It was amazing to see all the parents and share all the things we learned about buildings and built a delicious gingerbread house! Next week, we will learn about Gingerbread/Bakery.

 

¡Esta semana celebramos lo que aprendimos sobre los edificios! Los niños trabajaron en pequeños grupos para hacer edificios. Trabajan muy duro en sus increíbles edificios y sus dibujos de edificios. Fue increíble verlos trabajar juntos, compartir materiales e ideas. En mesa de arte, los niños hicieron su casa favorita del libro “Los tres cerditos”. En la mesa de matemática, los niños crearon patrones. En ciencias los niños construyeron una torre con diferentes materiales y usan materiales para hacer formas. En el área dramático, los niños continúan construyendo y experimentando con diferentes materiales. En los bloques, los niños trabajan juntos y construyen grandes estructuras. ¡Fue una semana muy ocupada! ¡Terminamos la semana con nuestra casa de pan de jengibre anual! ¡Fue increíble ver a todos los padres y compartir todo lo que aprendimos sobre los edificios y construir una deliciosa casa de pan de jengibre! La semana que viene, aprenderemos sobre la repostería.

Our first week of school! For some children they are transitioning from another class, some of the children are adapting to new peers and new schedules and some children are new to our school family. As you know sometimes new things can be scary, and transitioning can be hard. We see a few tears, but the children enjoyed the first week of school.    Our first week together was spent learning about the learning centers, names of new friends, and how to make friends. Our rules/Nuestra reglas

This week, we created the rules of the classroom. We talked about the importance of rules. Rules will help keep us safe. We talked about big and little rules. The rules will help create a supportive and organized school family.  In science, the children learned about primary colors and created new colors by mixing paint and colored water. It was really fun. At the sensory table, we introduced scissors. The children practiced cutting straight lines.  At the art table, the children painted with watercolor, used Q-tips to paint, paint sticks, markers and water to mix colors, and played with playdough. At the dramatic center, the children practiced playing together, sharing materials, and taking turns.  At the table game, the children practiced counting 1:1 correspondence, played with puzzles, and sorted shapes. What to do when we feel sad or scared at school? ¿Qué hacer cuando nos sentimos tristes o asustados en el colegio?

This week we learned about how to recognize what makes us sad or scared at school and what we can do to regulate our emotions. We introduce a safe place. It is a place that the children can use to calm their body and regulate their emotions. The children came up with clever ways to regulate their emotions such as to count to 10 or ask a friend/teacher to read with them or request a hug. We introduced some materials at art center such as playdough, rollers and glue. The children learned they need just a dot of glue. Also, the children drew beautiful self-portraits (take a look at our board). The children continued making new friends and exploring the learning centers.     They are learning their friend’s new names and how to play together. Also, this week we introduced the Question of the Day. It is an opportunity to count and talk about more or less and discuss the answer.
