Human body/ El cuerpo humano

This week we continued learning about the human body. We learned that veins are thin, flexible tubes in your body that act as return highways, carrying blood back to the heart after it has delivered oxygen to the body. The lungs are the main organs of the respiratory system, responsible for bringing oxygen into the body (inhalation) and removing waste carbon dioxide (exhalation). Humans have two spongy lungs located in the chest within the rib cage that inflate and deflate to help us breathe.

At the art table, the children played with small mannequins, drew pictures, made representations of veins, and used shapes to create Mat Man. During science, the children tasted flavored milk and created a graph, then exercised their lungs by inflating balloons together. At the block area, they used blocks to build structures and assemble a skeleton. In dramatic play, the children continued to engage in play schemes representing hospital visits. At the manipulatives center, they practiced one-to-one counting and completed puzzles. In literacy, the children worked on CVC words and rhyming words. It was a week full of learning and discovery.

Esta semana seguimos aprendiendo sobre el cuerpo humano. Aprendimos que las venas son tubos delgados y flexibles en nuestro cuerpo que actúan como carreteras de retorno, llevando la sangre de vuelta al corazón después de haber entregado oxígeno al cuerpo. Los pulmones son los principales órganos del sistema respiratorio, responsables de llevar oxígeno al cuerpo (inhalación) y eliminar el dióxido de carbono de desecho (exhalación). Los seres humanos tenemos dos pulmones esponjosos ubicados en el pecho, dentro de la caja torácica, que se inflan y desinflan para ayudarnos a respirar.

En la mesa de arte, los niños jugaron con pequeños maniquíes, dibujaron, representaron las venas y usaron formas para crear a “Mat Man”. En ciencias, los niños probaron leche con distintos sabores y elaboraron una gráfica, luego ejercitaron sus pulmones inflando globos al mismo tiempo. En el área de bloques, usaron las piezas para construir estructuras y armar un esqueleto. En el juego dramático, continuaron participando en representaciones sobre una visita al hospital. En el área de manipulativos, practicaron el conteo uno a uno y armaron rompecabezas. En el área de lectura y escritura, trabajaron con palabras CVC y palabras que riman. Fue una semana llena de aprendizaje y descubrimiento.
