This week we continued our study on cars.  We continued learning about ramps. We added some wooden ramps to blocks area and the children experimented with different cars and notice the speed of the cars according to the angle or slope of the ramp. At dramatic play, the children continued pretending to paint, change tires and repair our car. At the sensory table, the children played with trucks, rocks and sand. They dug up the letters in their name. at science table, we continued using ramps, measuring tape and different cars. The children use measuring tape to measure the distance the cars rolled off the ramp. Also, they used snap blocks to make cars and used transportation counters to make different patterns. At math table, the children tried different puzzles and practiced their fine motor by using dressing board and snap cubes to measure trains. At literacy, the children matched uppercase and lowercase letters and put the rocket together by finding pictures with the same sound letter. At art table, the children painted with watercolors, played with play dough and use Q- tips to paint. It was some fun!

 

Esta semana continuamos nuestro estudio sobre los automóviles. Continuamos aprendiendo sobre rampas. Agregamos algunas rampas de madera al área de bloques y los niños experimentaron con diferentes autos y notaron la velocidad de los autos según el ángulo o pendiente de la rampa. En el juego dramático, los niños continuaron simulando pintar, cambiar llantas y reparar nuestro carro. En la mesa sensorial, los niños jugaron con camiones, piedras y arena. Desenterraron las letras de su nombre. en la mesa de ciencias, continuamos usando rampas, cinta métrica y diferentes carros. Los niños usan una cinta métrica para medir la distancia que los autos rodaron por la rampa. Además, usaron bloques a presión para hacer autos y usaron contadores de transporte para hacer diferentes patrones. En la mesa de matemáticas, los niños probaron diferentes acertijos y practicaron su motricidad fina usando un tocador y cubos para medir trenes. En alfabetización, los niños emparejaron letras mayúsculas y minúsculas y armaron el cohete encontrando imágenes con la misma letra sonora. En la mesa de arte, los niños pintaron con acuarelas, jugaron con plastilina y usaron hisopos para pintar. ¡Fue divertido!

Our first week of school! For some children they are transitioning from another class, some of the children are adapting to new peers and new schedules and some children are new to our school family. As you know sometimes new things can be scary, and transitioning can be hard. Our rules/Nuestra reglas

This week, we created the rules of the classroom. We talked about the importance of rules. Rules will help keep us safe. We talked about big and little rules. The rules will help create a supportive and organized school family.  In science, the children learned about primary colors and created new colors by mixing paint and colored water. It was really fun. At the sensory table, we introduced scissors. The children practiced cutting straight lines.  At the art table, the children painted with watercolor, used Q-tips to paint, paint sticks, markers and water to mix colors, and played with playdough. At the dramatic center, the children practiced playing together, sharing materials, and taking turns.  At the table game, the children practiced counting 1:1 correspondence, played with puzzles, and sorted shapes. What to do when we feel sad or scared at school? ¿Qué hacer cuando nos sentimos tristes o asustados en el colegio?

This week we learned about how to recognize what makes us sad or scared at school and what we can do to regulate our emotions. We introduce a safe place. It is a place that the children can use to calm their body and regulate their emotions. The children came up with clever ways to regulate their emotions such as to count to 10 or ask a friend/teacher to read with them or request a hug. We introduced some materials at art center such as playdough, rollers and glue. The children learned they need just a dot of glue. Also, the children drew beautiful self-portraits (take a look at our board). The children continued making new friends and exploring the learning centers.     They are learning their friend’s new names and how to play together. Also, this week we introduced the Question of the Day. It is an opportunity to count and talk about more or less and discuss the answer.
