Flowers & Gardening/ Flores y la jardinería

We continue learning about flowers and gardening. We learned that worms are important for gardens, because they improve soil structure, aerate the soil, and enhance nutrients availability, ultimately leading to better plant growth. Additionally, worms break down organic matter, producing rich compost called worm castings, which serves as a natural fertilizer. At science, the children observed their beans changes that they planted in containers. Also, they observed how the grass is growing.  At writing table, the children drew pictures of the teachers, wrote teachers’ names and match letters. At manipulative, the children used Legos to make flowers and used pattern blocks to make flowers. At art, the children painted sunflowers, used construction paper to make flowers and ladybugs.  At sensory table, the children played with beans, small rakes and put together flowers. At block center, the children continued building amazing structures. At dramatic play, the children played with flowers and also, we talked about vegetables and fruits. At literacy, we continued learning letters, sounds and spelling CVC words. It was a busy week!

Seguimos aprendiendo sobre flores y jardinería. Aprendimos que las lombrices son importantes para los jardines porque mejoran la estructura del suelo, lo airean y aumentan la disponibilidad de nutrientes, lo que en última instancia favorece el crecimiento de las plantas. Además, las lombrices descomponen la materia orgánica, produciendo un rico compost llamado humus de lombriz, que sirve como fertilizante natural. En ciencias, los niños observaron los cambios en los frijoles que plantaron en macetas. También observaron cómo crece el césped. En la mesa de escritura, dibujaron a los maestros, escribieron sus nombres y unieron las letras. En actividades manipulativas, usaron Legos para hacer flores y bloques de patrones para hacer flores. En arte, pintaron girasoles y usaron papel de construcción para hacer flores y mariquitas. En la mesa sensorial, jugaron con frijoles, rastrillos pequeños y armaron flores. En el centro de bloques, continuaron construyendo estructuras asombrosas. En el juego dramático, jugaron con flores y también hablamos sobre verduras y frutas. En lectoescritura, continuamos aprendiendo letras, sonidos y deletreando palabras CVC. ¡Fue una semana muy ocupada!
