Flowers & Gardening/ Flores y la jardinería

This week we continue learning about flowers and gardening. We learned that some vegetables are flowers too such as broccoli and cauliflower. Broccoli and cauliflower can be yellow and purple too! We planted basil that is a herb that people use to add flavor to their dishes. At art table, the children used Q-Tips to paint flowers, used vegetables to stamp, painted their favorite vegetable and fruit and used paper plates to make a flower. At manipulative table, the children created a variety of patterns by using beans. At science, the children observed vegetables and drew pictures of their observation. At writing table, the children wrote uppercase letters. At literacy table, the children continued practicing recognizing letters and producing their sounds and recognizing opposites. We learned about the letter “Y” and the children played with a yo-yo. At blocks, they continued building together and practice taking turns and sharing materials. We ended our week by saying farewell to Bogie. We had some fun petting him and doing tricks with him. It was a week full of learning and fun!

Esta semana continuamos aprendiendo sobre flores y jardinería. Aprendimos que algunas verduras también son flores, como el brócoli y la coliflor. ¡El brócoli y la coliflor también pueden ser amarillos y morados! Plantamos albahaca, una hierba que se usa para dar sabor a los platos. En la mesa de arte, los niños usaron hisopos para pintar flores, usaron vegetales para estampar, pintaron su verdura y fruta favoritas y usaron platos de papel para hacer una flor. En la mesa de manipulación, crearon diversos patrones con frijoles. En ciencias, observaron vegetales y dibujaron imágenes de sus observaciones. En la mesa de escritura, escribieron letras mayúsculas. En la mesa de lectoescritura, continuaron practicando el reconocimiento de letras, la producción de sus sonidos y el reconocimiento de opuestos. Aprendimos sobre la letra "Y" y jugaron con un yoyó. En la mesa de bloques, continuaron construyendo juntos y practicando turnarse y compartir materiales. Terminamos la semana despidiéndonos de Bogie. Nos divertimos acariciándolo y haciendo trucos con él. ¡Fue una semana llena de aprendizaje y diversión!
